Malaysia NOC opens 17th advanced sports management course

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 11, 2024: The Olympic Council of Malaysia has completed the first session of the 17th edition of the Advanced Sport Management Course.

The first session was held from March 7-9, with the remaining sessions planned for May 6-9, July 1-4 and September 9-12.

The OCM is one of the pioneer NOCs around the world in collaborating with Olympic Solidarity to develop and structure the organisation of the ASMC where Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, one of the Assistant Secretaries General of OCM, was trained and accredited as the first Programme Director of ASMC in Malaysia since 2007.

This year, a total of 23 sports officials from the NSAs affiliated to OCM and its states affiliates were selected to attend the course. They came from athletics, basketball, cycling, dance sport, fencing, football, hockey, ice hockey, muaythai, polo, rowing, softball, sports aviation, swimming and tenpin bowling.

The Opening Ceremony of the 17th edition of ASMC was officiated by Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin, OCM Secretary General, on Thursday, March 7 at the Training Hall, Level 2C, OCM Indoor Sports Complex.

“On behalf of the OCM, we extend a very warm welcome to all of them and hope that they will gain the knowledge to improve their capacities as the administrators of their respecting sports,” said Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin in his opening speech.

*The OCM honoured the 11 participants who successfully completed the 16th edition of the ASMC at a graduation ceremony held on Saturday, March 9 at the Johor 3 and 6 Function Rooms of the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The ceremony was officiated by Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, Vice President of OCM, who is also the President of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia and Chef de Mission of the Malaysian contingent to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

*Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt presented the Certificate of National Course Director (NCD) issued by the OS to Mdm. Farah Azlina Mohd Alkaf in recognition of her role to organise and conduct the Sport Administrators Courses (SACs) for OCM.
