Bangkok, Thailand, March 3, 2024: The ball has been set rolling for the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi Province, Thailand in November with the first Technical Delegates Meeting achieving its goals, according to a senior official of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Vinod Kumar Tiwari, OCA Deputy Director General, declared it a "useful exercise" and said he was satisfied at the end of the two-day TD meeting on Sunday, March 3, at the Centara Grand Hotel in Bangkok.

“What the OCA wanted from AIMAG organisers as well as technical delegates from all the sports has been achieved. We have had a constructive and open dialogue over the past two days and we can now look ahead to having a successful Games in November with confidence,” Tiwari noted.

“Yes, there have been issues with some sports raising pertinent questions after site visits. But we are confident that, with the help of the organising committee, everything will be ironed out before the Games gets underway,” Tiwari added.

The 6th AIMAG will be held from November 21-30, 2024.

The TD meeting was the opening salvo in the planning and preparatory gatherings for AIMAG 6. This will be followed by the Chefs de Mission meeting on March 4-5 and the 4th Coordination Committee meeting on March 6-7.

The OCA has requested all 36 sports, plus two demonstration sports, to submit the Technical Handbook and Sport Requirement Book by March 15. It was also decided that the second Technical Delegates Meeting would be held in August in Bangkok.

Technical delegates from International Federations and Asian Federations visited site venues in both Bangkok and Chonburi Province. One of the main worries was over the time it would take to travel for the athletes from hotel to competition venue.

“Rest assured that all accommodation venues are close to competition venues. Also remember that, once the Games get underway, we will have police escorts for the athletes,” guaranteed Dato Seri Chaiyapak Siriwat, OCA Vice President and Vice President of Thailand NOC.
