Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, February 27, 2024: The President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, IOC Member Battushig Batbold, has marked the 68th anniversary of the founding of the NOC with a special message on the spirit of the Olympic Movement.
“Sixty-eight years ago on this day, on February 26, 1956, the Mongolian National Olympic Committee was established,” Battushig wrote in a Facebook post.
“In 1962, the International Olympic Committee registered Mongolia NOC as a fully-fledged member. Our team and athletes made history by competing in the Olympic Winter Games for the first time at Innsbruck 1964 and then the Tokyo Olympics in 1964.
“After the Mongolian team and athletes won one silver and three bronze medals in the Mexico 1968 Olympics, our 29 athletes have brought home a total of two gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals.”
Battushig added: “Olympism is a life philosophy that combines sports with culture, education and manners to respect the fundamental principles of humanity.
“Mongolia's National Federations and National Olympic Committees are recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia as a prestigious international sports organization for their high position in the IOC and OCA, and for promoting Olympic ideology to the public and educating young people about Olympic values.”
Battushig concludes: “Dear members of the Mongolian Olympic family, I wish you a happy holiday that is full of success and victory. Let's create a great success together so that the Mongolian flag will rise in the sky of Paris.”
