Tehran, Iran, February 14, 2024: The President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, met with his Qatari counterpart HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha last week.
Discussions during the meeting, which occurred on the side-lines of the World Aquatics Championships, centred on increasing sporting ties between the two countries and benefiting from the facilities and potential of both sides.
Iran NOC President Khosravi Vafa highlighted the capabilities of athletes from both countries in a number of disciplines and discussed an increase in interactions as well as support Qatar and Iran can have for each other in the international sporting arena.
President Khosravi Vafa then issued an invitation to Sheikh Joaan to visit Iran in the future.
He also congratulated Sheikh Joaan on the successful hosting of two major sporting events in Qatar - the AFC Asian Cup and the World Aquatics Championships.
