Malaysian divers miss out on Paris 2024 at World Aquatics Championships

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, February 11, 2024: The Olympic Council of Malaysia reports that two-time Olympic Games diving medallist Pandelela Rinong has missed out on Paris 2024 after failing to qualify at the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024.

“The Malaysian diving squad ended their journey at the World Aquatics Championships 2024, held in Doha from 2 to 10 February 2024, on a disappointing note,” the OCM reports.

“In what was the last qualifying event for the divers to secure slots to the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024, none of the Malaysian divers were able to book a ticket after failing to be among the top four finishers in the synchronised events and the top 12 for individual events.

“The most notable absentees from the Malaysian contingent bound for Paris will be Dato’ Pandelela Rinong Pamg OLY, bronze medallist in London 2012 and silver medallist in Rio 2016, Nur Dhabitah Sabri OLY, Wendy Ng Yan Yee OLY as well as Ooi Tze Liang OLY.

“In conclusion, Bertrand Rhodict Lises will be the only diver to represent Malaysia, having qualified for the men’s 10m platform during the World Aquatics Championship in Fukuoka 2023.”
