Manama, Bahrain, February 8, 2024: The President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his support for the sports sector and initiatives to spread a culture of an active and healthy lifestyle.
This follows a directive from HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to designate half a working day for sporting activities to be organised by all ministries and government agencies on the occasion of Bahrain Sports Day 2024 on February 22.
BOC President Shaikh Khalid, who also commended the Crown Prince, said that Bahrain Sports Day has become a national occasion that citizens and residents are keen to mark by engaging in a series of sports and awareness activities.
Shaikh Khalid, who is also the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and the Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), said the occasion highlighted the spirit of unity, harmony and positivity in the community.
He directed the GSA and Bahrain Sports for All Federation to organise the activities following this week’s Cabinet Meeting decision to celebrate Bahrain Sports Day.
