Baghdad, Iraq, February 4, 2024: The President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee Dr. Aqeel Muftin paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of Supreme Court of Iraq, Justice Faiq Zidane, on Friday, February 2.
NOC President Dr. Muftin briefed the top official of the Supreme Court on the work of the NOC, carried out in accordance with Iraqi laws, as well as the Olympic Movement in the country.
Dr. Muftin also praised the Supreme Court and the legal system in the country for its support to all Iraqi institutions, including the sports sector.
On his part, President Zidane welcomed the visit of the NOC President and reconfirmed his body was always ready and willing to support all Iraqi sporting institutions in accordance with national laws so as to foster the sporting movement and youth across the country.
Meanwhile, last Thursday, February 1, Dr. Muftin received Presidents and senior officials of a number of national sports federations at the NOC Headquarters in Baghdad.
Among the national federations who paid a courtesy call were kickboxing, golf, mixed martial arts, sailing and taekwondo. They all congratulated Dr. Muftin on his recent ascendancy to the post of NOC President.
Dr. Muftin thanked all the federations and stressed the NOC’s support to all sports and clubs in the country.
