Kathmandu, Nepal, January 31, 2024: Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha welcomed the Secretary General of the International Sepaktakraw Federation, Dato Abdul Halim Kader, at the NOC Headquarters in Satdobato on Tuesday, January 30.
Abdul Kader, who is also President of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation, had visited Thailand over the weekend on a swing of Asian countries and Nepal was his latest stopover.
Nepal NOC President Shrestha briefed Abdul Kader on the developments of the sport in the country during his courtesy visit.
The International Sepaktakraw Federation Secretary General also visited Nepal’s National Sports Council where he met Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising.
Abdul Kader urged the Nepal Sepaktakraw Association to take the initiative from the NOC and help promote the sport across the country. NSC Member Secretary Ghising promised to help the NOC as much as possible and stated that the Nepal Sepaktakraw Association was doing well despite limited resources.
The sport’s international governing body has introduced a new 15-point scoring system per set from February 1, 2024. This will replace the old 21-points system.
