Uzbek NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov visits historic city of Jizzakh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, January 28, 2024: The Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Oybek Kasimov, visited Jizzakh on Saturday, January 27 to see first-hand the conditions and facilities available for young athletes in the city.

 

Jizzakh is an historic city on the old silk route between Tashkent and Samarkand, and the NOC Secretary General was accompanied by Vice President of the NOC and first deputy chairman of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation Saken Polatov to study the activities being carried out in the field of sports.

 

The officials first visited the Jizzakh Olympic and Paralympic sports training centre where they got acquainted with the conditions created for young athletes. The pair inspected the training facilities, dormitories, medical halls and kitchen at the Olympic centre.

 

A meeting was then held with the head of the regional sports department and other officials. It was agreed to provide all-round support for athletes from the region who are preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

 

The visitors then watched the finals of the Uzbekistan Youth Boxing Championship and participated in the awards ceremony.
