Bhutan Olympic Committee signs agreement with national athletes aiming for Paris 2024

Thimphu, Bhutan, January 21, 2024: The Bhutan Olympic Committee has officially signed the National Team Membership Agreement with five athletes who are seeking qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

 

National boxers Tashi Yoezer, Tashi Wangdi and Tenzin Drugyel and national archers Lam Dorji and Sonam Penjor received the agreements from Bhutan Olympic Committee Secretary General Sonam Karma Tshering on Friday, January 19.

 

The three boxers will attempt to secure a ticket to Paris in two qualifying events in Italy and Thailand. The two archers will participate in Olympic qualifying events in Thailand, Turkey and Korea.

 

“Let’s support our national athletes as they embark on this journey to secure their spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” the BOC said in a statement.

 

Meanwhile, BOC Secretary General Sonam Tshering was on hand at BOC Headquarters to receive a delegation from Centre College, United States on Thursday, January 18.

 

The American delegation comprised 25 students and two professors.

 

The BOC Secretary General briefed the visitors on BOC’s journey since its establishment in 1983, highlighting the impact of the Olympic Movement in Bhutan. The delegation also visited sports facilities in Bhutan.
