OCA Coordination Committee sets key milestones for AIMAG 6 in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand, January 15, 2024: Plans for the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Thailand this year are moving forward following a recent online meeting of the OCA Coordination Committee.

The third Coordination Committee meeting for AIMAG 6 was chaired by OCA Vice President Timothy Fok; the Thai team was led by Dato' Seri Chaiyapak Siriwat, Vice President of OCA and Chairman of the Games Management Committee and International Relations Committee.

The agenda included discussions on the Games master plan, budget, organising committee structure, IT solutions, protocol, sports technical handbooks, medical and anti-doping, accommodation, transportation, public relations and broadcasting

The committee decided that the Chefs de Mission Seminar for AIMAG 6 will take place from March 5-7, the 1st World Press Briefing on March 9-11 and the 1stTechnical Delegates Meeting on March 13-15.

The fourth meeting of the Coordination Committee will be held from February 18-21 in Bangkok.

The OCA’s sixth AIMAG was due to take place in 2021, four years after AIMAG 5 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, in 2017 but was postponed several times due to the global covid pandemic and then a change in the Thai government.

They are now scheduled to take place in October/November this year in Bangkok and Chonburi province, giving Asia’s National Olympic Committees the time to refocus following the Olympic Games in Paris in July and August.

The third OCA Coordination Committee meeting for AIMAG 6 was held online on December 18, 2023.
