Manama, Bahrain, January 10, 2024: The Olympic Academy of the Bahrain Olympic Committee organised a physical literacy programme for children at the Isa Town Primary and Preparatory School for Boys.

The five-day programme, which started on Sunday, January 7 and will end on Thursday, January 11, has targeted the age group of seven to nine years in a pioneering initiative of the BOC to enhance physical health and sound development of children by focusing on developing basic motor skills.

The programme had a set of basic exercises, including learning to balance by standing on one foot, walking in a straight line, running and changing directions and stopping quickly, and jumping and landing exercises to enhance flexibility and physical strength.

Other exercises involved were throwing and catching a ball to improve hand-eye coordination, and activities such as crawling and climbing to develop strength and flexibility. Children were also encouraged to participate in group games to enhance cooperation and teamwork.

The five-day programme was an important step to create a firm foundation for the future sports development of the children.
