Hong Kong, China, January 10, 2024: With the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games to be held this month, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China organised the Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China delegation on January 8 at Olympic House.
Ms. Camay Lee, Assistant Director (Leisure Services) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, officiated the ceremony and presented the regional flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Mr. Edgar Yang, Honorary Secretary General of SF&OC, Chef de Mission Mr. Wong Po Kee and other members of the delegation, wishing them every success in the Games.
The forthcoming Winter YOG will be held in Gangwon, South Korea from 19 January to 1 February 2024, featuring 15 disciplines across seven sports.
Hong Kong, China will send three young athletes aged 16-17 to compete in alpine skiing and short track speed skating. This is the first time a Hong Kong athlete will compete in short track at the Winter YOG.
Mr. Yang said: "The Winter YOG provides a world-class environment for young athletes to exchange with other elites and accumulate precious experience, equipping themselves for larger international stages. We look forward to witnessing our young athletes pursing excellence and enjoying every moment during the Games."
