Hong Kong, China, February 18, 2020: The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China issued a statement on Tuesday announcing that the annual sports stars awards presentation night has been postponed due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The statement read:
“In view of the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hong Kong, to minimize the health risk of attending athletes, VIPs, guests and NSAs, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China has decided to reschedule the Cathay Pacific 2019 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards and Annual Dinner of the Federation - originally to be held on March 24 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre - to May 18 (Monday).
“This is the first time in HKSSA’s history that the event has to be postponed.
“The Federation would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the following organizations for their kind understanding in the postponement of this event and their continuous staunch support, including: Title Sponsor – Cathay Pacific Airways Limited; Sub-vented Organization – Leisure and Cultural Services Department; Principal Partner – New World Development Company Limited; Official Fitness Partner – Fitness First; Official Partner – Fila Marketing (Hong Kong) Limited; Panasonic, Secret9 Production House, JM Network Limited; Media Partner – Ming Pao Newspapers Limited.”
