Nepal Armed Police Force athletes receive cash rewards for winning medals at 13th South Asian Games

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 18, 2020: The Nepal Armed Police Force felicitated the 13th South Asian Games medal winners from the department on Sunday, February 16.

A total of 80 athletes from the Nepal APF Club had bagged 45 medals – eight golds, 15 silvers and 22 bronze medals – in the regional sporting extravaganza held from December 1-10 last year in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Nepal finished second in the medal standings behind powerhouse India, with a record 201 medals that included 51 golds, 65 silvers and 95 bronze medals.

The Inspector General of the Nepal Armed Police Force, Shailendra Khanal, and Nepal NOC Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha were among the officials at the ceremony.

Gold medal-winning athletes received a monetary prize of Nepalese Rupees 100,000 (US$876), silver medallists earned Rs. 50,000 (US$438) and bronze medallists Rs. 25,000 (US$220). Nepal APF handed over a total of Rs, 2.5 million (US$21,920) to the athletes.
