Kathmandu, Nepal, January 3, 2024: The 15th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Olympic Committee followed by a certificate distribution ceremony for athletes who participated at the Hangzhou Asian Games was held at the NOC Headquarters in Lalitpur last Saturday.
NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha presided over the AGM which was also attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Dig Bahadur Limbu. Congratulatory speeches were made by National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising, Nepal Olympians Association President Deepak Bishta, President of Nepal Hockey Association Anil Sharma and Nepal Sports Journalist Forum president Devendra Subedi.
All speakers emphasised the need to review Nepal’s performance at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China and stressed the importance of starting preparations for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha presented the progress report for 2023 while NOC Finance Head Rajan Shrestha, representing Treasurer Ratan Tandon, presented the financial statement for the year as well as the estimated budget for 2024. Both were passed by the assembly. Various commissions of the NOC also presented their reports and plans for the future.
Following the AGM, the NOC honoured participants and winners at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Nepal was represented by 253 athletes in 29 sports and finished with one silver and one bronze medal.
