Hangzhou Asian Games gold medallists win top prizes at Uzbekistan National Sports Awards 2023

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, December 28, 2023: Hangzhou Asian Games gold medallists Abdumalik Khalikov and Takhmina Ikramova won the Male Athlete of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year awards, respectively, at the Uzbekistan National Sports Awards 2023.

 

The National Sports Awards 2023 was held on December 25 in a glittering ceremony attended by distinguished guests, among them the Head of the Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Odil Abdurakhmanov, Minister of Youth Policy and Sports Adham Ikramov, OCA Vice President Otabek Umarov and Uzbekistan NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov.

 

Boxer Khalikov, who won the gold medal in the featherweight category at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, was awarded the top prize of the evening in the male category while double gold medallist gymnast Ikramova won the women’s prize.

 

The Coach of the Year award was won by Gleb Groysman, head coach of the national cycling team, while the judo team won the National Team of the Year award.

 

Six federations – athletics, chess, shooting, tennis, wrestling and weightlifting - plus the Sports Centre of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan won awards for their successful participation at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Sports Photographer of the Year: Mr. Anvar Ilyasov (Photo correspondent of "Dunyo" Information Agency);

 

For Many Years Contribution to the Promotion of Olympism: Ms. Gulnoza Akhmadalieva (Director of the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory);

 

National Team of the Year in Non-Olympic Sports: Kurash;

 

Most Active Sports Society of the Year: The Sports Society of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

 

Most Active Sports Blogger of the Year: Mr. Farrukh Mukhiddinov (Founder of the “Bugun Sport” instablog);

 

Sports Journalist of the Year: Mr. Abduaziz Kurbonov (Correspondent of the TV and radio channel “SPORT”);

 

For Services Rendered in Support of the Olympic Movement: “Navoi MMC” JSC;

 

For Services Rendered in Support of a Healthy Lifestyle: Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

Young Paralympian of the Year: Ms. Shahina Yigitalieva (Para-athletics);
