Dubai, United Arab Emirates, December 27, 2023: The United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee celebrated its 44thanniversary on December 20.
A message on the NOC website marking the founding of the UAE National Olympic Committee stated: “It’s been 44 years of excellence and persistence to embrace glory.”
The NOC added: “We are proud of the achievements of the athletes over the past decades and we are inspired by their determination to achieve more success in the name of the homeland.”
At the recent Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, the UAE recorded its highest-ever medal tally in the history of the quadrennial games, winning a record 20 medals, including five gold, five silver and 10 bronze.
This performance bettered the previous best achievement at the Jakarta Asian Games in 2018 by seven medals.
The historic performance was hailed by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, NOC President, who stated this achievement was an expression of the athletes’ commitment to sporting excellence and their ability to raise their standards when representing the nation.
