Male, Maldives, December 20, 2023: The President of the Maldives Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdul Sattar, and Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed met with officials of the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation last week for discussions on various issues.

The main topic of deliberations revolved around how to provide medical treatment facilities at sporting venues in the Maldives.

The meeting was prompted by the Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, the Hon. Abdulla Rafiu, requesting the implementation of the minimum medical requirement guidelines which was duly endorsed by the Maldives Health Ministry and the country’s National Sports Council.

Both parties engaged in an exchange of constructive ideas with the principal goal of elevating medical treatment facilities at sporting venues.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with the broader ‘Hafuthaa 14’ pledge introduced by the new Government. Hafuthaa 14 is a roadmap encompassing 161 pledges, with 61 specifically addressing the social sector.
