Kathmandu, Nepal, December 17, 2023: The Nepal Hockey Association, under the auspices of the National Olympic Committee and with funding from Olympic Solidarity, conducted an International Hockey Federation (FIH) Level II course for hockey coaches.

The third hockey training programme to address the need for local umpires and reduce dependence on foreign umpires was concluded as part of the IOC Olympic Solidarity initiative under the guidance of Pakistani instructor Zahid Ali.

At the closing ceremony, NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha acknowledged the 70-year-old Nepal Hockey Association’s contributions to the development and promotion of hockey, and said this had led to the NOC recommending hockey for the Olympic Solidarity programme.

Anil Sharma, President of the Nepal Hockey Association, expressed satisfaction with the effectiveness of all three FIH programmes conducted under Olympic Solidarity.

The national hockey association also honoured former head coach Ashok Pandey for his significant contribution to the domestic hockey scene.
