Lahore, Pakistan, December 10, 2023: The Pakistan Olympic Association is “thrilled” to announce that cross-country skier Muhammad Shabbir has been awarded an athlete scholarship by Olympic Solidarity.
The 21-year-old Shabbir, who competes in the 10km and 15km cross-country freestyle events, will receive USD 1,500 per month towards his training and competition expenses in the build-up to the next Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina, Italy in 2026.
“His dedication and skill have shone brightly on the slopes, and this scholarship is a testament to his hard work and the bright future ahead. Let’s congratulate Muhammad Shabbir as his journey to Milano Cortina 2026 begins,” the POA said in a statement.
