Thimphu, Bhutan, December 10, 2023: The Bhutan Olympic Committee and its Gender Equity Commission have jointly conducted an advocacy programme on safe sports.
A total of 63 athletes from the Royal Bhutan Army Sport Company participated in the programme where they were introduced to the concept of safe sport and educated on how to practice and enjoy sports in a safe environment.
The safe sports policy protects athletes and coaches and their fundamental rights against abuse and harassment in sports. Among the topics touched during the one-day programme on December 7 were psychological abuse, physical abuse, sexual harassment, sexual abuse and neglect.
*Meanwhile, the Bhutan Olympic Committee has congratulated Mrs. Ganeshwari Mangar, Accounts Head of Basketball Federation of Bhutan, on her appointment to the FIBA Asia Finance Committee for the term 2023-2027.
