CTOC celebrates achievements and highlights year-end successes

Taipei, December 2, 2023: The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee hosted the "Year-End Achievement Sharing Ceremony" on November 29 to showcase the year's collaborative efforts. 

 

Themed "Challenge Yourself, Surpass Limits," the ceremony was jointly opened by the President of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, Dr. Hong-Dow Lin, and the Deputy Director-General of the Sports Administration, Mr. Chih-Chang Hong.

 

The event focused on five key initiatives: "Participation in International Multi-Sports Games," "Engagement in International Sport Affairs," "Cross-Strait Sports Exchange," "Olympic Value Promotion" and "International Sports Affairs Training Course Program." The year's activities included over 100 seminars and events.

 

During the ceremony, certificates of completion for the "International Sports Affairs Training Couse" were presented by the Honorary Vice President of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, Mr. Shyh-Kwei Chen, and Deputy Director-General of the Sports Administration, Mr. Chih-Chang Hong. The awards acknowledged the successful cultivation of talent and the establishment of international connections.

 

 

Participation in international multi-sport games

 

Despite a one-year delay due to the pandemic, the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023 concluded with the Chinese Taipei delegation achieving remarkable success. The team secured 19 gold, 20 silver and 28 bronze medals, ranking sixth among all participating NOCs. Additionally, at the 2nd Ulaanbaatar East Asian Youth Games, this NOC participated in 12 sports categories, winning 10 gold, 12 silver and 22 bronze medals, achieving an outstanding fourth place overall. The athletes' performances set the stage for their continued preparation for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.

 

Engagement in international sports affairs

 

The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee's International Affairs Team consolidated and provided 21 editions of international sports information highlights, covering the latest developments under the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and various International Federations. The committee supported 27 international sports events and signed memoranda of understanding for collaboration with the Korean Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Academy.

 

Olympic Values Promotion

 

The "Elite Athlete Life Stories – Olympic Spirit Lecture Tour" initiative by the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee received high praise from schools, with approximately 2,300 applications from high schools each year. The lectures, focusing on athletes' life stories, aimed to inspire students to face life's challenges with courage. Emphasizing Olympic values such as excellence, friendship, and respect, the lectures underscored the importance of these values in personal growth and success.

 

International Sports Affairs Training Course (ISATC) Program 2023

This year's International Sports Affairs Training Course saw a record number of participants, breaking the previous year's record. With a rich array of topics reflecting international sports trends, the program focused on agendas 2020+5 set by the International Olympic Committee. The workshops and educational outreach had over 400 participants, providing specific sports organizations and associations with the necessary knowledge to enhance their international affairs capabilities.

 

Looking Ahead to 2024: Challenge Yourself, Surpass Limits

As the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee continues to drive Olympic initiatives, it expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all domestic supporters. The committee remains committed to being the strongest support for athletes, with a core focus on athletes, connecting internationally, and integrating resources.
