Baghdad, Iraq, November 30, 2023: A promising Olympic programme and a strategic plan for the next three years will be presented at the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq in December.

The President of Iraq NOC, Raad Hammoudi, revealed that a draft new-look budget was ready to be presented at the General Assembly with the main focus on supporting national sports federations in developing future Olympic champions.

“The budget was prepared on the basis of justice, transparency, governance and the provision of money to raise the level of national federations and their athletes,” NOC President Hammoudi noted.

Hammoudi affirmed that the budget has seen a significant development in all its aspects and details.

"The most important thing is what is in the interest of national federations and their athletes, as the principal entity upon which high-performance sport is based," he said.

The budget was prepared by the Finance Committee of the NOC with a lot of input from the NOC President. All allocations will be devoted to sports activity, development programmes, women’s sports and the preparation of Olympic champions.

Hammoudi concluded by saying: “The Iraqi Olympic movement is likely to see drastic changes in the organisation and preparation level in the coming years.”
