Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 26, 2023: The Olympic Council of Malaysia has congratulated Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, Vice President of the OCM and President of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia, for his unopposed re-election as an Executive Board member of the International Wushu Federation for the term 2023-2027.
The election took place during the 16th IWUF Congress held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America.
During the same Congress, H.E. Mr. Gao Zhidan, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, was elected as the new President of the IWUF.
“On behalf of the OCM, we would like to congratulate Dato’ Dr. Chong Kim Fatt for his significant contributions to promoting Wushu across all levels,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of OCM.
“We recently congratulated him for receiving the prestigious Sports Leadership Award from the Negeri Sembilan State Government on Saturday, 14th October, 2023.
“With his re-election as an EB member of the IWUF, Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt joins the ranks of a selected few sports leaders serving at various levels, from the Southeast Asia region, across the Asian continent, to the global stage:
1. President – Wushu Federation of ASEAN China (WFAC)
2. Vice President – Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA)
3. Executive Board member – International Wushu Federation (IWUF)
“We extend our best wishes to Dato’ Dr. Chong Kim Fatt and his colleagues in Wushu, including WFM, WFAC, WFA and IWUF, in their collective efforts in advocating for the inclusion of Wushu in the future Olympic Games,” added Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
