Hong Kong, China, November 21, 2023: OCA Executive Board member Mr Charles Lo was laid to rest in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
Mr. Lo, who died on October 7 at the age of 79, had been Chairman of the OCA Media Committee since 2011 and was serving a fourth term as President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China.
His influence not only in the sports world but within the Macau Special Administrative Region of China as a whole could be seen, as the first two Chief Executives of the Macau SAR Government, Edmund Ho and Fernando Chui Sai On, were among the pallbearers at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point.
Another pallbearer in the Buddhist ritual ceremony was Mr. Timothy Fok, OCA Vice President and President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China. The national sports federations of Macau were also represented.
A commemorative publication in Chinese and English traced Mr. Lo’s life and included photos of meetings with sports dignitaries from the IOC, including President Thomas Bach, and from the OCA, including the Acting President, Raja Randhir Singh.
The publication concluded: “He will surely be missed by his family, friends and colleagues who had lived, laughed and worked alongside Charles the past decades.
“To quote a message from one of his former colleagues, ‘I am a true admirer of Charles’ genuine, diplomatic, humble and friendly way he always dealt with everyone around him. May his soul rest in peace.’ This is the testament to the kind and loving person he was.”
