Muscat, Oman, November 19, 2023: Coach Nidal Al Mughiri from the Oman Basketball Federation successfully completed an international enrichment programme for coaches and trainers organised by the University of Delaware.
The programme was held in cooperation with the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee and supported by the Oman Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity.
The programme was launched in June 2023 and concluded earlier this month. It provided coaches with the opportunity to enrich their skills, increase their competency in basketball training and introduce them to the university game environment in the United States.
Coach Nidal underwent four months of virtual theoretical study, and then she went to the United States for a 23-day training period at universities across the US. This gave her the opportunity to follow, watch and interact with expert training staff in this programme.
The virtual study included topics ranging from basketball training, how to develop players and appropriate training environments in schools and clubs, individual development of players and the use of analytics to improve performance.
The training in the US began with a preparatory visit to the University of Delaware where participants were introduced to the university’s basketball programme, followed by an intensive three-week training programme across universities in the US.
