Thimphu, Bhutan, November 16, 2023: The Bhutan Olympic Committee, in collaboration with the Strange family and skate organisation Salad Days of Skateboarding, held the 3rd annual Johnny Strange skate camp in Thimphu last week.

The event was held at the Johnny Strange Skate Park which was built in memory of adventurer and former Bhutan Olympic Committee intern Johnny Strange who first brought skateboarding to the country. Johnny tragically passed away in a Base jumping accident in 2015.

The skate camp, held over six days, saw more than 60 young Bhutanese attend skate lessons and watch demonstrations by professional skateboarders and instructors from the United States, Thailand, Japan and Germany.

The Strange family has partnered with American professional Nestor Judkins who started Salad Days to promote skateboarding around the world.

Moving forward, Salad Days and the Strange family will continue partnering with the Bhutan Olympic Committee to inspire the first generation of Bhutanese skaters, and encourage kids to have fun and build a community at the park, and eventually support Bhutan skaters competing and bidding to take part in the Olympics.
