Uzbekistan NOC holds media tour of Olympic town being built for Tashkent AYG 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, November 14, 2023: The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports organised a media tour last Saturday, November 11 of the Olympic town being built for the Asian Youth Games (AYG) and Para Asian Youth Games in 2025 in Tashkent.

 

Sports Minister Adham Ikramov, NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, Chairman of National Paralympic Committee Mukhtarkhan Tashkhodjayev, Deputy Chairmen of NOC Ravshan Irmatov and Sherzod Tashmatov, along with around 40 media personnel participated in the tour.

 

The foundation for the Olympic town was laid by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on November 9, 2022, and the tour was to update the media on the construction work and progress after a year.

 

The total area of the Olympic town is 100 hectares. A 10,000-seater athletics and football stadium will be the showpiece along with six indoor and 13 outdoor facilities. The construction is being carried out by Chinese company CAMC Engineering.

 

Media was informed that the entire facility will be solar powered and it will have capacity to provide electricity to the area. Charging stations for electric vehicles will also be widely available.

 

Once completed, the Olympic town will be the most modern and state-of-the-art facility in Central Asia.
