Manila, Philippines, November 9, 2023: Atty. Wharton Chan has been appointed Secretary General of the Philippine Olympic Committee.
In a letter dated November 8, 2023, the President of the POC, Abraham N. Tolentino, wrote to the Acting President of the OCA, Raja Randhir Singh, to officially announce the appointment of Atty. Wharton Chan as POC Secretary General. The appointment was resolved during the POC Executive Board meeting on October 16, 2023, and the General Assembly on October 27, 2023.
“Atty. Chan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this important role, and we are confident that his leadership will significantly contribute to the continued success and growth of our organisation,” POC President Tolentino wrote.
Atty. Chan has an impressive track record in the field of sports administration and law, having served as the Chairman of the Legal Counsel for the POC and as Secretary General of the Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas (national federation for kickboxing).
Tolentino added: “His dedication to promoting sportsmanship, fair play, and the Olympic values aligns perfectly with the mission and vision of our NOC.”
