Hangzhou, China, November 3, 2023: In a move to sustain the momentum built from the popular debut of Esports as a medal sport at the 19th Asian Games, the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) will hold a demonstration event at the China Hangzhou Esports Centre on November 11-12.
The demonstration event, which will be held in collaboration with the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) and strategic partner China Mobile MIGU, will consist of two game titles: AIES XR Sports - Steelraid, and AIES Robot Sports - Ultimate Battle Robots.
The AIES Robot Sports- Ultimate Battle Robots is a scientific and technological competition that leverages digital, artificial intelligence and robot intelligence. In this competition each athlete builds and programmes their own robot to compete against others under a given set of rules and specified time.
The AIES XR Sports - Steelraid event is a team event - 3x3 - that integrates Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and other technologies to create a new dimension of competitive sports. Teams earn points by shooting each other’s energy armour, and the team with the highest points wins.
The AESF is showcasing these emerging digital sports as it aims to help the public comprehend how digital technology can seamlessly integrate with traditional sports, further extending its impact and scope.
National Olympic Committees from various Asian countries and regions have shown tremendous enthusiasm for their teams’ participation in the demonstration event.
By working closely with its strategic partner, China Mobile MIGU, as well as HAGOC, the AESF is fully committed to offering support for the competition and coordinating necessary resources to help the athletes excel in these digital sports.
