Iran NOC Executive Board reviews Hangzhou 2022 performance

Tehran, Iran, November 2, 2023: The Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Manaf Hashemi, has stated the NOC would continue to extend its support to national sports federations as they look ahead to the next Asian Games as well as the 2024 Paris Olympics.

 

Speaking at the 27th meeting of the Iran NOC Executive Board on Wednesday, November 1, Seyed Hashemi called for better results at the next Asian Games – in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan in 2026.

 

Iran finished seventh overall in the medal standings at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China winning a total of 54 medals comprised of 13 gold, 21 silver and 20 bronze.

 

“Today was our first meeting after the Hangzhou Asian Games. A detailed report of the last eight to nine months where key issues like the identification of athletes, support and technical matters with the federations and a report on the results of the Asian Games delegation was presented,” the Iran NOC Secretary General told the media after the three-hour meeting.

 

Seyed Hashemi, who was the Chef de Mission of the Iranian delegation at the Hangzhou Games, added: “The NOC will extend its support and continue planning for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. We will also cooperate with national federations for better results in the next edition of the Asian Games.”
