Baghdad, Iraq, October 22, 2023: The National Olympic Committee of Iraq has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee to further sporting exchanges between the two countries.
This agreement was signed on the sidelines of Iraq NOC President Raad Hammoudi attending the opening ceremony at the World Combat Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last Thursday, October 19.
Hammoudi had met his Saudi counterpart, HRH Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, during the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, to discuss the MoU. Following this meeting it was decided to strengthen sporting cooperation between the two NOCs.
The MoU was signed by Hammoudi and SOPC Vice President Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdul Aziz. Also present at the ceremony was Iraq NOC Secretary General Haitham Abdulhameed.
Meanwhile over 1,500 athletes are participating in the 11-day World Combat Games which features 16 combat sports.
