Hangzhou, China, October 2, 2023: Tajikistan has now won five medals here at the Hangzhou Asian Games. They are comprised of one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
The latest bronze medal was earned by Khairandeshi Murodzoda in the men’s -66kg of the kurash competition.
Khairandeshi defeated Joe Haddad from Lebanon 10-0 in the round of 16 and then disposed of Mongolian Enkhbold Enkhtaivan 10-3 in the quarter-finals.
However, Murodzoda lost to Iranian Majid Vahid Barimanlou 10-0 in the semi-finals and was awarded a bronze medal for his efforts in defeating two opponents.
Tajikistan athletes have proved their strength here in Hangzhou, winning gold and silver in judo and bronze medals in judo and kurash (2).
Previously, Somon Makhmadbekov won judo gold medal at men -81 kg; Temur Rakhimov won a judo silver medal in men’s +100 kg; and the other two bronze medals have come from Behruzi Khojazoda (men’s judo -73kg) and Khaknazar Nazarov (men’s kurash -90kg).
With one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, Tajikistan ranks 21st of 45 NOCs in the medal table as of 6pm on October 2.
