Hangzhou, China, September 26, 2023: As part of its preparations to host the 19th Asian Games, Hangzhou readily equipped its Athletes’ Village to accommodate over 12,000 athletes and team official from all parts of Asia.

Speaking on the accommodations provided to the athletes, Bahrain handball players Hassan Madan and Mohammad Abdulredha hailed the esteemed preparations by Chinese authorities to ensure a well-rounded welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for the Asian athletes.

“Life in the village has been very good and we’ve been treated warmly and well by the volunteers and staff here,” said Madan as he elaborated on the selection of food in the village.

On his part, Bahrain’s Abdulredha added: “The food choices are diverse and provide us with the nutrients we require as athletes.”

Moreover, both athletes agreed: “Overall, our stay in the village has been as pleasant as meeting our friendly competitors on the field.”

Inside the Athletes' Village, there is a plentiful supply of internal transportation on electric vehicles, while athletes and team officials can take a bicycle for up to two hours to reach their destination or simply enjoy the exercise and explore the vast complex.

The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee has constructed a main Asian Games Village which has a total capacity of 20,000 in three separate communities – Athletes’ Village, Media Village and Technical Officials Village.

This AGV is located just 4km from the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium and is supported by five sub-athletes’ villages in the co-host cities.
