Gao seizes wushu spotlight at Hangzhou Asian Games

Hangzhou, China, September 25, 2023: In the realm of Wushu, where precision and artistry

intertwine, a momentous achievement unfolded at the 19th Asian Games. Renowned

Chinese athlete Gao Haonan seized the spotlight.

 

Gao Haonan, a participant in the Men's Taijiquan and Taijijian All-Round, showcased

an exemplary performance that seamlessly merged martial arts, dance and musical

elements. His exceptional prowess and dedication yielded a most coveted prize: the gold

medal.

 

The details of Gao Haonan's achievement are a score of 9.830 in Men's Taijiquan and

9.836 in Men's Taijijian, he amassed a formidable total of 19.666 points, thereby

clinching the gold medal.

 

In a gracious acknowledgment of this remarkable triumph, Gao Haonan expressed his

gratitude, stating, "First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the People's

Republic of China for affording me the opportunity to represent our nation on this

grand stage. This gold medal is not merely a personal accolade; it is a testament to the

collective efforts of our dedicated team, including my coaches, medical support staff,

and dietary experts. I view this victory as a shared achievement and dedicate it to my

homeland, the Communist Party, and all those who contributed to our preparation. I

cherish the belief that Wushu, particularly Taijiquan, possesses the potential to resonate

globally. I aspire for this competition to serve as a catalyst for the wider recognition of

Taijiquan."

 

Securing the second position was Hong Kong, China's accomplished athlete, Samuei Hui Tak Yan,

with a commendable score of 19.493.

 

“This journey has been an incredible experience, albeit not the culmination of my

endeavors. It signifies a milestone, and I remain committed to pursuing excellence in

the future, with aspirations to participate in the World Wushu Championship in the

United States."

 

Completing the triumphant trio was the Philippines' athlete Jones Inso, who

expressed profound honor in participating in the 19th Asian Games. This enthralling

competition illuminated the dedication and skill of these exceptional athletes while

promoting the art of Wushu on a global scale. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to

all the athletes for their outstanding performances and their contributions to the world

of Wushu.
