Hangzhou, China, September 22, 2023: Agatha Leung Nga Wing beautifully embodied the concept of the Asian Games for All campaign run by the Olympic Council of Asia when she said how “fortunate” she was to be present as an Asian Games Youth Reporter at the Hangzhou Games which opens on Saturday, September 23.

The 20-year-old from Hong Kong China is one of five youth reporters picked from the Asian Games Youth Reporter Project – one of three elements in the Asian Games for All campaign held in the run-up to these Games by the OCA in collaboration with the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee.

On Friday, September 22, Agatha went on stage at the Main Press Centre in Hangzhou to thank the OCA and the organising committee for giving her the invaluable opportunity to be at the Games.

“I’m very fortunate. This is my first time in Hangzhou and it is a great honour to be able to participate in this event. Not only can I watch the best athletes on show, but I also can observe the work of sports journalists. I’m very thankful to be here,” Agatha told the audience at a ceremony to celebrate the OCA Asian Games for All campaign.

The youth reporter project plus the Asian Games Fun Run and the Asian Games Children’s Art Competition combined to form a successful Asian Games for All campaign.

Agatha is part of a five-strong OCA youth reporter team at the Games along with participants from Kuwait, Tajikistan, Palestine and Mongolia.

At Friday’s ceremony, Chen Weiqiang, Vice Mayor of Hangzhou and Executive Secretary General of HAGOC, thanked all the NOCs for getting into the spirit of the Asian Games for All drive.

“I warmly acknowledge the support received from the Olympic Council of Asia and all the Asian NOCs for their participation. This campaign has helped foster cultural exchanges across Asia. I also acknowledge the profound friendship from the different countries for sending their best wishes to the Hangzhou Asian Games,” Chen said.

Wei Jizhong, OCA Honorary Life Vice President, explained that the Fun Run was proof of the “enthusiasm” shown by people across Asia and their “support” for the Hangzhou Games.

“On behalf of the OCA, I thank all the participants of the Fun Run and the other programmes in the Asian Games for All campaign,” Wei said.

The drawings and paintings from children across Asia are on display at the Main Media Centre. A five-minute video clip at the official ceremony encapsulated the Fun Runs across 30 NOCs. Agatha was on hand as proof of the successful youth reporter project.
