OCA Acting President Raja Randhir Singh visits Asian Games Village

Hangzhou, China, September 20, 2023: The Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Raja Randhir Singh, went on a tour of the Hangzhou Asian Games Athletes’ Village on Wednesday, September 20.

Despite drizzly conditions in the early evening, Raja Randhir called in at the Team Processing Centre, Athletes’ Dining Hall and the headquarters of the Indian Olympic Association.

He chatted with athletes, team officials and with representatives of the organising committee HAGOC working in the main village.

“You have built a very beautiful Athletes’ Village,” he said to HAGOC executives.

“I remember coming here with the OCA several years ago when the village was still in the planning stage and construction was only just starting.

“After all your hard work over some challenging years, we can now say that you have created a wonderful Athletes’ Village in terms of accommodation, dining, leisure and cultural services, office space and transportation within the village.

“I would like to congratulate HAGOC on this outstanding achievement, and I am sure all athletes will have a comfortable and enjoyable stay in the Hangzhou Asian Games Village.”

Raja Randhir called first at the Team Processing Centre, where members of the Indian delegation included his daughter, Rajeshwari Ria Kumari, who has qualified to represent her country in the trap shooting competition. Her father, Raja Randhir, won shooting gold at the Bangkok Asian Games in 1978.

A fleet of village buggies then transported the group to the Dining Hall, which can accommodate a maximum of 4,200 people at one sitting. Raja Randhir visited the Halal section and also checked out the menu at the Chinese station as well as the counters serving food from the various zones of Asia.

After enjoying dinner with his family, Raja Randhir exchanged gifts with the Vice Mayor of Hangzhou and Executive Mayor of the Asian Games Village, Sun Xudong.

Raja Randhir also called at the IOA HQ and chatted with members of the Indian shooting team outside the building before going up to the offices.
