Hangzhou, China, September 19, 2023: The Olympic Council of Asia joined forces with DAS-Security as its Cyber Security Prestige Partner at an official signing ceremony held at the Main Media Centre of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Tuesday, September 19.
Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Acting Director General of OCA, welcomed the new partnership saying it would offer the “highest standards of professionalism in data protection” in the run-up to the 19th Asian Games from September 23 to October 8.
“DAS-Security is a member of the OCA family and the official cyber security prestige partner for the 19th Asian Games as well as the Olympic Council of Asia. We are very pleased to have them as an OCA sponsor,” Tiwari noted.
The new partnership will provide the OCA with a secure technical setting for its various multi-sports events which it will host in the future.
DAS-Security has been part of the cyber security programme for multiple international sporting events in China including the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, Shenzhen 2011 World Universiade, and Wuhan Military World Games in 2019. In 2020, it signed as a Prestige Partner for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Tiwari noted: “The services of DAS-Security will lead to a safe and reliable technical support for cyber security for the Asian Games. The data protection will provide an impartial environment for these Games.
“With only four days to go for the Opening Ceremony of the 19th Asian Games, today’s signing ceremony is a significant step to start the Asian Games journey. We believe with your contribution, these Games will be safe, wonderful and a remarkable event,” Tiwari added.
Fan Yuan, chairman of DAS-Security, pointed out that 16 years of providing cyber security had resulted in an iron-cast internet safety net for major sporting events. “We will provide a professional service and technical support in the digitalisation of Asian sports events,” he said.
Also present at the signing ceremony was Chinese badminton legend Li Lingwei, a Member of the International Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee.
In her opening speech, Li noted that in today’s world “cyber security is just as important as winning a gold medal” and that the presence of DAS-Security would fortify the security frontiers for the Hangzhou Asian Games and the OCA.
Among the other dignitaries at the signing ceremony were Wissam Trkmani, OCA Head of Project Operation Department, and Tony Tarraf, OCA Head of Athletes Development Department.
