Amman, Jordan, September 14, 2023: Her Royal Highness Princess Sara bint Feisal met the Jordanian delegation which she will be leading to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on Wednesday, September 14.
Princess Sara expressed her gratitude to the national teams for their tremendous efforts in preparing for the Hangzhou Games which gets underway next Saturday, September 23.
Jordan will field 79 athletes competing across 15 sports. They are: archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, fencing, golf, gymnastics, judo, karate, esports, shooting, taekwondo, triathlon and weightlifting.
Her Royal Highness said she was confident that the athletes would make Jordan proud and urged them to do their very best to achieve the best possible results.
Jordan Olympic Committee Secretary General Rana Al Sa’eed also welcomed the delegation and wished them the best of luck in their final preparations for the Games.
During the meeting, the delegation was updated on the latest developments of the event, including travel and accommodation arrangements, as well as a thorough briefing on medical issues, including anti-doping guidance which will be monitored by the delegation’s medical team.
Jordan has participated in eight editions of the Asian Games since first appearing in Seoul in 1986, winning 45 medals, including five golds, 16 silver and 24 bronze medals.
Jordan clinched a record haul of 12 medals, including two golds, at the 2018 Games in Jakarta and Palembang. The gold medals came in taekwondo (Juliana Al-Sadeq) and jujitsu (Haidar Al-Rasheed).
