Muscat, Oman, September 9, 2023: The Oman Olympic Committee held a meeting on Friday, September 8, with national sports federations whose athletes will be participating at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The meeting, which took place at the OOC headquarters in Muscat, was presided over by Secretary General Taha Sulaiman Al-Kishry.

The official delegation to the September 23-October 8 Games was announced with the OOC revealing important and useful information to representatives of the sports federations.

Oman will take part in seven sports at the Hangzhou Games. They are: athletics, beach volleyball, hockey, sailing, shooting, swimming and weightlifting. The Sultanate will be hoping to end a medal drought lasting since 2010 Guangzhou – when sprinter Barakat Al Harthi won a bronze medal in the men’s 100 metres.

The OOC extended its best wishes to all athletes and hoped they could achieve positive results.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 7, Secretary General Al-Kishry participated in the ‘Step Forward’ workshop organised by the OOC’s Oman Women’s Sports and Gender Equality Committee in cooperation with Ooredoo.

The workshop held at the Oman Olympic Academy reviewed and evaluated the projects of women sports leaders. The Women’s Sports and Gender Equality Committee goal is to help develop female leaders in sports administration.
