New Delhi, India, September 4, 2023: Singapore sports leader Ng Ser Miang has thanked the Indian government for their support in hosting the IOC Session in Mumbai next month.
Mr. Ng, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee and a member of the OCA Executive Board, called on government and Olympic officials to discuss plans for the IOC Session in October.
The meeting involved the Indian Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, HE Anurag Singh Thakur, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha, OCA Acting Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari and Panos Tzivanidis, IOC Director for Corporate Events and Services.
“I thank the Minister for the support the Indian Government is giving to the IOC Session that will be held in Mumbai in October. We discussed a wide range of topics on sports and the Olympic movement,” Mr Ng said.
Mr Ng added that it was also a “privilege and pleasure” calling on the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to thank him for the Indian Government's support for Mumbai hosting the IOC Session in October 2023. We discussed wide-ranging topics and, on behalf of the IOC, I congratulated India for hosting the upcoming G20.”
Dr. Jaishankar, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Gujarat State, noted: “Delighted to meet the IOC delegation led by VP Ser Miang Ng today (September 1). Appreciate President IOA P. T. Usha joining the occasion. Convey best wishes for the upcoming IOC session in Mumbai.”
The IOC announced on March 6 that the IOC Session in the Indian city of Mumbai has been confirmed for 15, 16 and 17 October 2023.
An IOC Executive Board (EB) meeting will be held on 12 and 13 October, prior to the IOC Session, while the Opening Ceremony of the IOC Session is scheduled for 14 October.
