East Asian Olympic Committee elects Yang Shu’an as President

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, September 3, 2023: The Mongolian Olympic Committee reports that the Ulaanbaatar 2023 East Asian Youth Games were successfully organised from August 16-23, 2023.

Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, hosted this multi-sport event featuring 11 sports. It was an event to remember as Mongolia hosted a multi-sport event for the first time.

The official opening speech of the Ulaanbaatar 2023 East Asian Youth Games was given by IOC member and Mongolia NOC President Battushig Batbold, who officially declared the Games open on August 17 at 20:23. 

A total of 842 athletes from seven NOCs from the East Asia region participated in the Games, showcasing their skills and talent. The event was a huge success thanks to more than 1,200 volunteers, 130 international-level judges and technical staff working tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Moreover, during the Games, the East Asian Council meeting, Sports and Rules Committee and Medical Committee meetings were held with representatives of all nine NOCs, including Guam NOC. 

During the Council meeting, Mr. Yang Shu’an, Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, was elected President of the East Asian Olympic Committee.
