Hong Kong, China, August 31, 2023: The Asian Electronic Sports Federation has written to the Olympic Council of Asia to thank the OCA for conducting an online course for the esports community ahead of the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The OCA, in association with AESF, held the workshop on Wednesday, August 30 to introduce various aspects of the Asian Games to esports athletes and officials.

The topics included the prevention of the manipulation of competitions, the elections for the OCA Athletes’ Committee, social media guidelines and anti-doping procedures and certification.

The joint meeting was designed to introduce the Asian Games to the esports community, as electronic sports will be making its official debut as a medal sport at Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8.

Following the online meeting, AESF Director General Sebastian Lau wrote to the OCA to thank them for their guidance and initiative.

“On behalf of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF), I would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the OCA’s contributions presenting the OCA Hangzhou Asian Games PCM (prevention of the manipulation of competitions) and Anti-Doping Certification Course held on August 30, 2023 for our Esports delegations,” he wrote.

“The OCA’s unwavering support, contributions and insights greatly enriched the course, creating a valuable learning experience for all participants.

“Your dedication to the principles of fair play, competition integrity, and athlete development resonated profoundly with our athletes and reinforced the significance of these principles in our journey towards excellence.

“As we move forward, we remain enthusiastic about the potential for further collaboration and the opportunity to continue our joint efforts in shaping the future of sportsmanship and fair competition.”

Esports athletes will compete for medals in seven game titles at the new China Hangzhou Esports Centre during the 19th Asian Games.
