Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, August 29, 2023: Team Saudi will take 193 athletes to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee has announced.
The male and female athletes will compete in 19 sports disciplines on the programme of 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 481 gold medal events.
The 19 disciplines are: football, basketball 5×5, handball, athletics, equestrian, archery, fencing, shooting, rowing, weightlifting, boxing, taekwondo, jujitsu, karate, kurash, table tennis, tennis, golf and electronic sports.
Meanwhile, the Saudi teams participating in the tournament continue their preparations for the Asian Games through internal and external camps to achieve sporting achievements.
“It is noteworthy that the Kingdom has achieved a total of 61 medals (25 gold, 13 silver, 23 bronze) throughout its participation in the Asian Games since Bangkok 1978,” the SOPC said.
At the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta/Palembang 2018, Team Saudi won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
