Ramallah, Palestine, August 23, 2023: Palestine will take part in 15 sports at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The Palestine Olympic Committee's executive committee, which met on Tuesday, August 22, confirmed the country’s sports delegation for the September 23 to October 8 continental showpiece.

The 15 sports are: athletics, archery, boxing, esports, equestrian, football, golf, gymnastics, judo, martial arts (jujitsu and karate), swimming, taekwondo, triathlon, weightlifting and wrestling.

There are 40 sports and 61 disciplines at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The Palestine delegation will comprise both athletes based at home as well as overseas. Several teams and individual athletes are already in training camps.

At last month’s Arab Games in Algeria, Palestine athletes performed creditably by bringing home 16 medals, including four gold medals, all in swimming, and won by Valerie Tarazi (women’s 50m and 100m backstroke) and Yazan Al-Bawwab (men’s 50m and 100m backstroke).

Tarazi also won three silver medals in the women’s 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke.
