Iran NOC focuses on female athletes heading for Asian Games

Tehran, Iran, August 14, 2023: Iran National Olympic Committee Vice President Dr. Mahin Farhadizad met with coaches and managers who will accompany the country’s female athletes at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Dr. Farhadizad explained the duties of the officials at the meeting which took place on Saturday, August 12. These duties will not only involve supporting the athletes during the sports competitions but also in various technical, cultural and recreational programmes.

The NOC Vice President called on all coaches and managers to be careful in performing their assigned tasks, and drew on her previous experiences at past Asian Games to underline her message.

It was also decided that Dr. Farhadizad would visit all female Iranian athletes bound for Hangzhou at their training camps to press home her message.

Iran is set to field athletes in 30 sports at the September 23 to October 8 Asian Games. Among the female athletes will be the kabaddi team who will aim to win back-to-back gold medals. 

The Iran women’s kabaddi team won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, defeating favourites India in the final.
