Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, August 13, 2023: A modern multi-functional sports complex with a capacity for 1,500 spectators will be built in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek.
The President of the National Olympic Committee of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Mamytov, signed a memorandum on improving the sports infrastructure in the country with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the As-Salam Humanitarian Foundation, Dr. Nabel Al-Oun, and the president of the foundation, Sarybai uulu Bakyt, last week.
The sports complex, which is estimated to cost US$2 million, will be the first purpose-built facility for team sports like basketball, volleyball and futsal, and for martial arts, in Bishkek.
“Our As-Salam Foundation has built many other infrastructure projects in Kyrgyzstan but this is the first time we are involved in a sports project,” said Dr. Nabel Al-Oun.
“Thanks to this project we got to know the National Olympic Committee of Kyrgyzstan better. I hope that in the future we will implement many more such initiatives,” Dr. Nabel added.
Once built, the venue will be able to host mass sports events and can be used as a base for training national teams.
