Korean sports academic receives Olympic studies grant

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 30, 2020: In the framework of the 2020 PhD Students and Early Career Academics Research Grant Programme, the Olympic Studies Centre (OSC) has awarded grants to six projects. 

The chosen researchers will benefit from a grant which will allow them to carry out their project and, if relevant, consult the OSC’s resources in Lausanne. The results of their research must be submitted by the end of 2020. 

The six selected candidates and their chosen projects include Kim Yoon-Jin - Elite sport coaching and integrity: The fine line between excellence and abuse. Korea National Sport University (Republic of Korea).

For this 21st edition of the programme, 30 applications were submitted by doctoral students and 11 by early career academics. The 41 applicants were from 19 countries on four continents.

The PhD Students and Early Career Academics Grant Programme is one of the research programmes that has been organised by the OSC since 1999, aiming to support academic research related to Olympism, the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games. It serves as a link between the IOC and the universities of the world by reaching out to the next generation of professors.

The selection committee included Hisashi Sanada (Tsukuba University, Japan).
