China continues to dominate diving in world aquatics championships

Fukuoka, Japan, July 18, 2023: China won their ninth gold medal - and eighth in diving  - at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan on Tuesday, July 18.

Their latest success came in the mixed 3m and 10m team event.

The four-strong team of Bai Yuming (16), Zhang Minjie (18), Zheng Jiuyuan (19) and Si Yajie (24) scored a total of 489.65 points, 34.30 clear of Mexico (455.35) in second place. Germany, with a score of 432.15, won the bronze medals.

Korea, represented by Cho Eunbi (27), Yi Jaegyeong (23), Kim Yeongtaek (21) and Kim Suji (25), finished eighth on 345.60.

Malaysia, represented by Kimberly Bong Qian Ping (21), Jellson Jabillin (22), Hanis Jaya Surya (21) and 17-year-old Nur Eilisha Rania Binti Muhammad Abrar Raj, came in 10th with 320.00.

Indonesia - Andriyan Andriyan (28), Gladies Lariesa Garina Haga (17), Adityo Restu Putra (17) – finished 12th on 274.00; and Macau came in 14th on 225.75, represented by Hoi Zhang (16), Lo Ka Wai (14), Choi Sut Kuan (33) and He Heung Wing (14).

China ended the fifth day of the July 14-30 world championships with nine gold medals, one silver and two bronze for 12 in total, followed by Germany on 4-0-2 and Japan (3-0-2).
